Hoya Sarawak Cream #6

The Hoya Sarawak Cream is an epiphytic climbing plant, meaning it grows on the surface of another plant in its natural habitat, native to the rainforests of Borneo, Malaysia, in the Sarawak region. It is loved for its thick, creamy-splashed leaves that become even more striking as the plant matures. Every new leaf unfurls with its own unique variegation, making each plant one of a kind.

Care instructions

☀️ Bright, indirect light. Exposing it to direct (afternoon)light can cause sunburn to the leaves.  Note: With a good amount of light the leaves can sunstress, which means the leaves will turn pink/purple/red. This will not harm the plant if done gradually and will give a nice pop of colour to this plant. 

💦🪴 Let the top half of the soil (50%) dry out before watering again.  Sitting in soaked soil too long can cause root rot. We prefer to use clear container pots so we can monitor the soil en roots. 

🌡️ Will thrive in a consistent roomtemperture between 18°C and 30°C.

🪴🧪 Fertilize every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). During the winter dormancy period (winter and fall) the plant does not need to be fertilized (or it should be heavily diluted).

🌸❗Is a blooming houseplant. During the growing season it can grow lots of wax-like flowers. Each hoya has a different looking flower. When the flowers have finished blooming they will drop the dry blooms. Be carefull with pets and small children as the flowers should not be ingested. Keep the empty stems where the blooms used to be on the plant, so the plant will continue to bloom from this area next growing season.
